#038 - On the 8th day of Christmas...

On the 8th day of Christmas my wardrobe gave to me - paneled velvet leggings and a pair of mock-Jeffreys!

Hat: H&M
Blouse: Primark
Leggings: H&M
Boots: Missguided

I got these leggings on my most recent mainland venture, which was October time I think. This was when my winter-shopping splurge occurred, and these bad bois were the first velvet item I could find in the shops!! I had the urge...must...buy...velvet, and luckily found these to satisfy my craving! It was a bit early on for most Christmassy items but thank H&M I got my velvet fix!

I'm going away again in mid-January, and am already getting excited about the sales!!

#037 - On the seventh day of Christmas...

On the seventh day of Christmas my wardrobe gave to me - a fair isle jumper and a pleather skirt with pleats!

Jumper: Primark
Blouse: H&M
Skirt: Primark
Boots: New Look

I love how winter clothes stay fashionable forever - buy something in fair isle, velvet, sequins and sparkles and guaranteed it will still be fashionable next winter. This jumper is at least three years old - its a toddler of the jumper world! And it's lasted pretty well considering its Primarni! I've never been a big fan of winter clothes but this year I decided to invest in a few winter bits which now I'm glad I did as I know they'll last. It's the first time I've done that thing of packing away my summer clothes and having just my winter bits in my wardrobe and I think it makes things a lot clearer when you're trying to choose outfits (always a trial for me - think clothes all over the bed and several changes before leaving the house!)

Is everyone still feeling festive? I'm currently snuggled up on the sofa watching the film Four Christmases and I've just eaten a lunch that consisted purely of party sausage rolls! But  isn't that totally acceptable at this time of year?!

#034 - On the fourth day of Christmas outfits...

On the fourth day of Christmas my wardrobe gave to me - a chunky black knit and some fairlisle leggings, super cosy!

Jumper: Primark
Blouse: H&M
Leggings: Primark
Plimsolls: Primark

This is what I wore on boxing day for chilling out with friends, having a couple of festive drinkies and general catch-ups. These sorts of leggings are one of the best things about Christmassy outfits. I think they're the next best thing to cosy pyjamas, the kind of get-up to be donned the night before Christmas, when you're chilling with some chocs, counting down the hours until you can go to bed (yep, still a child at heart!).

What's your Christmas routine? I spend the day with my parents and brother, who's 21, and first we all get up, showered etc. (this is a staggered process with my brother, unsurprisingly, surfacing last, lagged by hangover brought on by Christmas eve drinking!). Me and my dad have our own traditional Christmas day breakfast - croissants with ham and melted cheese, sounds a bit gross maybe but it's very yummy! This tradition was born when, for a couple of years in a row, all the morning Bucks fizz drinking would go straight to my head meaning I didn't make it through to Christmas dinner (awkward!). I'm one of those people who can't drink at all unless they've had a good solid meal beforehand!

So anyway now we have a Christmas breakfast, closely followed by Bucks fizz, and then after mum's prepped the turkey we open the presents! By the time we've done that it's usually around midday so we pop up to the pub for a festive drink! As there's only one pub on the island, the whole community is usually gathered there and everyone gets a free glass of bubbly, it's a really lovely tradition! Everyone wishes each other happy Christmas and talks about what they gave and received this year. Then we head home for Christmas dinner! I love Christmas so much, it's probably my fave day of the year!

#033 - (Belated) Merry Christmas!

On the third day of Christmas my wardrobe gave to me - some new disco pants and a present from me to me!!

Top: Primark
Trousers: River Island
Heels: ASOS

I know it's a bit late but a very merry Christmas to you all! I've been a bit rubbish with posting so am gonna put a few posts up today to continue my 12 days of Christmas outfits! Here's a pic of me on Christmas day - this is what I wore. I got these River Island disco pants from my parents which was very handy as I was so confused as to what to wear on the day - perfect solution! I teamed them with this Primark flapper-style top which I love - it was only £8 and has the most gorgeous intricate beading detail, such good value, and the golden hues are perfect for Christmas! And finally I bagged myself these amazing heels in the ASOS footwear sale for only £12.50! I've wanted some of these Jeffrey Cambell-esque T-bar platforms for ages so bought them as a cheeky present to myself, well I've been very good this year so I think I totally deserve it :p

I had a great Christmas day, did you? I got lots of lovely gifts from my family, most of which I can wear which as you probably know are my fave kind of pressies! In fact I'm thinking that once I finish my 12 days of Christmas outfits, I might do a sequence featuring all my Christmas gift items so I can share them with you lovely readers!

On the second day of Christmas my wardrobe gave to me - a snowman jumper, the perfect something Christmassy!

Leggings: New Look
Trainers: Primark

The mandatory Christmas jumper! This is actually from the men's section in Primark, no kidding, they do the best Christmas jumpers! Just about to head out for a Christmas eve booze cruise! Very excited although am gonna be careful, god forbid I'm hungover for the big day tomorrow!xx

#031 - On the first day of Christmas outfits...

On the first day of Christmas outfits my wardrobe gave to me...a knitted reindeer dress and some new H&M booties!

Hat: H&M
Waistcoat: H&M
Knitted dress: New Look
Boots: H&M

I know I've already posted today but at last my laptop has been revived! And I just couldn't resist starting my 12 days of Christmas outfits feature! I'm feeling so very festive now after spending a couple of days getting the house all ready for Christmas and having drinks with friends and family. So here is my first Christmas outfit!

I've had the dress for a while and it's been perfect for so many Christmases! I love the reindeer pattern, its so cute and almost looks like they're kissing! The boots I got in my recent H&M sale splurge, they were only £15 and despite the fact that I have an abundance of pairs of black ankle boots these ones are a really classic style and will stay current year after year. They're a really elegant shape too - great for Christmas drinks parties.

Sorry I've been such a bad blogger the last couple of days, my laptop has broken leaving me without easy access to blogging or outfit pics (shock horror). Hopefully it will be fixed in the next couple of days!!

Totally in love with this F21 ombre knit!

Jumper: Forever 21
Shirt: Republic
Clutch: H&M
Trousers: Primark
Hi-Tops: New Look

They only had smalls left so it's a little snug on the arms but hey, as long as I don't go turning into Popeye any time soon it should be fine :) As much as I love the jewel-toned theme of winter 2012 I also quite like pastelly winter looks. I think these nudey-pink accessories complement my knit really well. Maybe a bit of stud overload with studded jeans and studded wedge hi-tops - but then is there really such a thing as too much hardware?!

Cannot believe it's only a week til Christmas!! Where has December disappeared to?! (not that I'm complaining...CHRISTMAS!)

Jacket: New Look
Top: Primark
Trousers: River Island
Heels: Primark

Luckily I was fairly organised this year and actually have done and wrapped all my pressies, gotta pick up a couple of last bits (the obligatory box of Ferrero Rocher for dad) and I'm all set!

How do you like my outfit today? I LOVE these trousers - they're actually a peachy colour which kinda shows up in the pics but I'm afraid they're so light that they get a bit bleached by the flash, yet it's too dark to have flash-less photos - it's a Nelly 'n' Kelly style dilemma people! Anyway I love 'em - I love anything a bit androgynous really - hi-tops, baseball caps, suits!(see ydays post) and tuxedo style trousers are no exception! And the peachyness just gives them that extra edge...only problem is I haven't worn them much because I'm scared I'll get them dirty!!

#027

I've decided this is my new favourite outfit - I wish I could wear it everyday! (though it might get a little chilly!)

Suit: Boohoo.com
Shirt: Primark
Wedges: H&M

I bought this suit in the summer from Boohoo when everything first started going co-ord crazy and although it was love at first sight, I never found the occasion to wear it, I actually think I kinda forgot about it, you know how that happens? Well, any blogger with a wardrobe as vast as mine will! Sometimes you have really nice treats that get stuck behind something else on a hanger, or buried under a collapsed untidy pile (pet hate - happens to me all the time as all my folded stacks are like the leaning tower of sweaters). Anyway I caught sight of it the other day and decided to experiment by giving it a winter revamp, which was actually ridiculously simple. Add my key wardrobe item for AW12, this berry coloured Primark blouse, which complemented the print really well, and accessorise with these SHAMAZING H&M snake-print berry wedges, and schaaa-ting, winter suit! Obviously in real life I would stick a pair of (much-loathed) tights underneath, but as this was just a dry run I thought I'd give my pins an airing!

I really really love this look, and it's got me hooked on suits! There are loads of gorge ones on ASOS like this one and I'm thinking of saving the pennies and getting one with trousers next time (anything not to wear tights haha). Also if you're heading ASOS-wards, make sure to check out their 50% off shoes section - SO many bargains :D

Another day in the owl-print blouse...

Waistcoat: Forever 21
Blouse: Primark
Jeans: River Island
Boots: Primark

Today has been such a standard Sunday...hangover, eating too much, the majority of the day centred around bed. I've managed to be vaguely productive though and taken a lot of pics of clothes I'm trying to sell - feels so good having a big wardrobe clearout but then there's the small matter of what to do with all the things that are now the wrong size/don't suit me anymore/bought impulsively and never worn! I'm gonna be selling some bits and bobs on Ebay so have a look at the link at the top of my blog if you fancy - currently got a cream cable knit jumper for sale for just £5 amongst other bits!

#025

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.....

Hat: H&M
Top: Primark
Skirt: New Look
Socks: New Look
Wedges: Boohoo.com

So chuffed as I've been going through loads of old clothes that I'm gonna try and sell on Ebay and re-found this skirt! I bought it absolutely ages ago, at least 5yrs ago, and now it's totally on trend again! Anything jersey is on my love list at the mo, it's perfect casual-chic and very versatile too. Tbh this skirt could probably have done with an iron first but the iron is not my friend.

How is everyone's weekend so far? It's been such a miserable weather day, I've not done a lot apart from photograph lots of clothes I will hopefully eventually sell! There's a link to my Ebay at the top of the page, so keep an eye on it for some bargains!

Och aye the nooooo! Embracing my Scottish heritage with a pair of tartan shorts today :)

Hat: H&M
Shirt: Primark
Shorts: River Island
Socks: New Look
Boots: soyoushoes.com

My mum and all her family are from Scotland so it's only right that I embrace my half-Scottishness from time to time! Tartan is actually one of my favourite things about winter wear, along with velvet, knits, pleather, boots...OK so along with lots of other things I've recently learnt to embrace about winter clothes!

How has everyone's week been? I haven't been up to anything too exciting, just getting all prepared for Christmas! Sending off the last of my presents tomorrow, fingers crossed they'll arrive in time! I'm thinking of doing a '12 Days of Christmas Outfits' feature on my blog, maybe starting around the 20th. I know technically it's meant to span from Christmas til Jan 6th but tbh I don't feel particularly Christmassy post-New years, whereas by anyone's measure the 20th onwards is Chrismas time! I expect my outfits will be fairly tenuously linked to Christmas though...anything sparkly, fairlisle, or outfits for Christmas parties will be my main focus! Anyone fancy joining me?!

#023

I do love a pair of patterned trews!!

Jacket: Primark
Top: Boohoo.com
Trousers: Primark
Wedges: Boohoo.com

Oh ma gaaaaad oh ma gaaaad oh ma gaaaaad!! My H&M order arrived at last!! In fairness it was actually within the estimated delivery date but you know how time seems sooooo much longer/slower when you're waiting for shopping to arrive?! I haven't kept it all which is very unlike me, but I have so many bits on my lust list at the mo that I'm trying to be super careful about what I buy. Trying to avoid SALE SYNDROME! You know what I mean?! Buying things that you wouldn't even look at were they full price.

With sales, it can go one of two ways.  On the one hand, they give you the opportunity to try things you wouldn't usually wear (the whole, yes-I-know-they're-pink-hareem-dungarees-but-they're-only-a-fiver moment). However, they also inevitably lead to a corner of your wardrobe being dedicated to those unworn, 'why oh why did I buy this?' purchases. I'm a big fan of sale buying though - I strive for those occasions where crazy low prices lead to either the acquisition of a new but unexpected staple, or an out-there style statement (it's often much easier to dare to be different if the financial consequences are low!).
